Allrhiza: Mycorrhiza Gr

Allrhiza: Mycorrhiza Gr

  • A mycorrhiza is a symbiotic association between a fungus and a plant. The term mycorrhiza refers to the role of the fungus in the plant's rhizosphere, its root system. Mycorrhizae play important roles in plant nutrition, soil biology, and soil chemistry.
  • Mycorrhiza permits the plant to obtain additional moisture and nutrients. This is particularly important in uptake of phosphorus, one of the major nutrients required by plants. When mycorrhizae are present, plants are less susceptible to water stress.
  • There are seven types of mycorrhizae. These are endo (arbuscular), ecto, ectendo, arbutoid, monotropoid, ericoid, and orchidaceous mycorrhizae, as described by the scientists. Among them, endomycorrhizae and ectomycorrhizae are the most abundant and widespread.
  • Benefits of Mycorrhiza on dose of 4kg per acre:
    • (a) Increase plant establishment and survival at seeding or transplanting.
    • (b) Increase yields and crop quality.
    • (c) Improve drought tolerance, allowing watering reduction.
    • (d) Enhance flowering and fruiting.
